Q. Due to the pandemic and its impact on attendance and mental health, as well as general loss of learning, I’m concerned that there are indications of more students at the school who will fall into the SEND category, putting further strain on our department.
Q. Although we are a secondary school, we still have some students coming to us in Year 7 without the essential decoding and comprehension skills they need to access the curriculum. They also seem to be demotivated following repetition of the same approaches to teaching reading. What do you suggest?
Q. We are expecting an Ofsted visit shortly and I am very concerned that our SEND pupils will not be able to articulate their learning in the way that inspectors are asking them to following class observations. What measures can we take to help them with this?
